Greetings Northside Families,
I am excited to introduce you to Shirley Cai today, one of our stellar teachers at the Infant & Toddler Center. Shirley first joined our learning community as a student teacher in our Prekindergarten program, and we immediately recognized her passion and aptitude for early childhood education. Upon completing her Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and Child Psychology at Brooklyn College, she joined the ITC team and is currently the Head Teacher in the Angelfish classroom with a wonderful group of 2-year-old students.
With experience, dedication and a supportive team, Shirley’s focus is to provide the best care and learning environment for both the children and their families. She believes that play is the foundation of all learning for young children, and that all children have an innate curiosity that drives this play and will guide them as they develop socially, cognitively, and physically. With this in mind, Shirley and her team ensure that all children in her care are provided with a nurturing atmosphere where they are encouraged to explore, create, question, form new social relationships, and learn on a daily basis.
Shirley describes herself as a curious adult, and this dedication to being a life-long learner, as well as her interest in child development, led her to a career in education that she truly loves and enjoys. She has been an educator for 10 years and a member of the WNS family for the past 5 years. Stop by the Angelfish classroom and say hello sometime soon!
Shirley is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Child Studies through Concordia University. Her hobbies include track cycling, crafting and all things D.I.Y.!
