Greetings, Northside Families! It was great to see so many of you at the picnic and ice cream social last week. Today we’re continuing to introduce you to some of the amazing new faculty members who have joined us this year. Read on to learn more about our new Spanish teacher, Paola Martinez!
I am beyond excited to join WNS as the Spanish teacher for the new academic year. Communication and the Spanish language have always been my biggest passions, which is why I decided to get my Bachelor’s degree in Social Communication in 1997. After I obtained my degree, I worked in public relations and as a journalist in Colombia, my native country. In addition to my profession, I have always been deeply interested in pedagogy, which is why when I moved to the United States, I searched and found a great opportunity to turn a dream into a reality and started a new journey as a Spanish teacher.
My teaching experience includes the United Nations International School and Instituto Cervantes in New York City, along with teaching private lessons. I am currently earning a Master’s degree at the University of Barcelona, and I take language classes myself to improve my English. Outside of the classroom, I enjoy reading, traveling, photography, and visiting museums.
My goal as a teacher is to instill in my students an appreciation for and knowledge of Hispanic culture while improving Spanish language skills in a comfortable atmosphere. I focus on activities and projects that are enjoyable and build confidence in language learners. If you have any questions or would like more information about our Spanish program, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
