Greetings, Families! We hope you enjoyed Back to School Night last week. It was a pleasure to share our passion for learning with all of you. One person you may not have met is Nikki Lief, who joins us this fall as our School Psychologist. The role of a school psychologist is to support students in their social-emotional learning to ensure that they can be successful at school. This is done through group work, individually and in collaboration with teachers and families.
Welcome to the new school year! My name is Nikki Lief and I am excited to join the learning community at Williamsburg Northside. I look forward to getting to know all of our students and families this year. In the time leading up to the start of the school year, I have been impressed by our faculty and their commitment to creating a warm and nurturing learning environment. I have also seen how excited our students were to return to school!
I was born and raised in New York City, and know our school system well. Before joining Northside, I earned my bachelor’s degree from Tufts University, where I studied Community Health and Sociology. I then attended Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology, where I earned a master’s degree in School Psychology and my doctorate in Clinical Child Psychology. My experiences prior to joining the team at Northside include working at other independent schools in New York City with elementary, middle and high school students. I have worked with students in both special education and mainstream settings, as well as both inpatient and outpatient clinical settings.
I am very much looking forward to collaborating with our teachers and the rest of the Student Support Team (SST) in order to ensure a positive and successful year for all of our students. Please feel free to reach out with any updates, questions or concerns. I can be contacted at email@example.com.
