The exceptional faculty of the Lower School at Williamsburg Northside Schools is made up of a team of learners and leaders who are dedicated, perceptive, funny, thoughtful, caring, innovative, and so much more. They work together as researchers; exploring content, pedagogy, methodology, and most fascinating, their students. The faculty of the lower school embraces the school’s mission in believing that students are strong and capable individuals who express themselves and their learning in many ways, creating a vibrant intellectual community.
Our head teachers and co-teachers join us from a wide variety of experiences in the field. Many have worked in other independent schools here in New York City or across the nation, while some have worked in public and charter schools. Their rich and diverse backgrounds assure that our collaborations are richly layered and insightful. Our head teachers all hold master’s degrees in their fields and our co-teachers hold either a master’s or are in a master’s degree program. This team models a passion for learning and it is evident throughout their work with students and families.
Additionally, we have specialist teachers in the areas of Art, Music (African drumming is a favorite), Library, Physical Education, Science, and Spanish. A Learning Specialist and School Psychologist on staff help to our students and families.
