Williamsburg Northside Schools held its 2nd Annual Family Table Event May 2016. The evening was an opportunity for all members of our community to celebrate their unique cultures, and unifying spirit, around a communal table. Parents, faculty and staff brought food and drinks representative of their families’ tastes and interests for all to enjoy. Librarian Karen Grenke provided a selection of books on inclusivity and diversity for perusal and purchase. The international music group StringNskins provided live entertainment, while very talented volunteers from Five Boroughs Foundation of Photography documented the event. The centerpiece for the evening was a giant, patchwork tablecloth made from material donated by families from all three of our schools, then designed and sewn by the Parent’s Association’s Inclusivity Committee. The evening was a true reflection of what makes WNS such an extraordinary place, the community as a whole.
