Fall 2020-2021 Athletics Announcement
The CONSAT league made the difficult decision to suspend all league activity indefinitely. The Northside Athletic department is hoping to offer clinics to all middle school students and will communicate if/when they become available.
A Message From Your Athletic Director
Greetings Williamsburg Northside Community,
I am beyond excited and honored to Head the Athletic Department here at Williamsburg Northside. At Northside, we believe that academics and athletics are co-curricular. Being a member of an athletic team provides ample learning opportunities, just as the classroom does, so we challenge our student-athletes to learn equally in both environments. We view the field as an extension of the classroom. Many of Northside’s Core Values will be emphasized throughout their experience, especially that of collaboration, resilience, and compassion. They will also experience concepts such as leadership, confidence, integrity, communication, time management, and respect as we look to develop character amongst our athletes.
Additionally, we aim to introduce our students to a variety of sports so they can become more well rounded athletes and better people. This will be accomplished by teaching sport-specific skills designed to encourage learning and to emphasize the ‘why’ in the decision making process. Ultimately, the Athletics program will be a cornerstone of the Williamsburg Northside educational experience as we encourage them to develop a lifelong appreciation for sport and a healthy lifestyle.
I look forward to working towards these goals throughout the year. Please do not hesitate to contact the Athletic Office with any questions.
Jesse Schulman
Director of Athletics and Physical Education
Athletics Overview
Northside is a member of the Confederation of New York Schools and Team Sports (CONSAT) league. Below are the league’s sport offerings, which are subject to change and may be supplemented as we grow as an athletic program.
Fall:
Soccer (futsal – indoor soccer)
Cross Country
Winter:
Basketball
Spring:
Volleyball
Track & Field
The league is comprised of a number of other, similarly-sized schools and CONSAT preaches “Participation, Fair play, and Respect.” All teams will be coed and the schedule will be updated weekly, primarily using a ‘Swiss-System’, which groups opponents who are closest in the standings. Additional information can be found on their website at consatny.com.
As an approved site, Northside will be host to a number of games this season, which will usually be played on Thursdays at 4:30pm. The practice and game schedules will be posted to the website as well as to each student’s schedule.
