Letter from the Head of Schools
Dear All,
Welcome to Williamsburg Northside's website!
As you take a look around this site my hope is that you'll get a glimpse into the wonderful school we have here in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The school has been on an incredible journey since it's opening in 1999. And, as part of Williamsburg Northside Schools for over a decade I have seen, for myself, the evolution of a school that is incredibly connected to all the students who have passed through its doors and all the faculty members that have made it their home away from home. In my own evolution as a teacher and administrator, I have benefitted enormously from engaging with such a vibrant community.
Over the years, I have been challenged by students, parents and an amazingly talented faculty to question and clarify what it means to offer a quality and meaningful education to young people. I have been endlessly impressed by the energy, wisdom and passion of all the people involved in our school. Through their intelligent inquiry and thoughtful reflection we have developed a deeply rich and significant school experience for our faculty and students alike.
We ask our students to collaborate, to listen, to share, to imagine, to learn deeply, to find true understanding and to put their learning to use. We ask our faculty to respect their students, to be sincere participants, to listen, to challenge, to teach creatively and to expect great things. We ask all of them to be kind and to value themselves and each other. These are not easy tasks and that is our work.
I feel incredibly blessed to be part of this community of lifelong learners and gifted educators. I encourage you to wander your way through our website to gain more knowledge about who we are and what we are doing, but I implore you to visit to see the learning in action. It is impressive and joyful and should not be missed.
Sincerely,

Amy Warden, Program Director
