A Note from our Head of Schools, Dr. Gina Farrar.
Williamsburg Northside has grown its footprint in greater Williamsburg over the past 17 years, serving families beyond our neighborhood in Manhattan, Queens, and Greater Brooklyn. With the addition of our new 35,000 square foot Lower School building in 2014 we added a facility that can support a wide range of age groups and learning activities. Having been intentional in our growth and focused on seeing our first class of 5th graders through to graduation, we are excited to announce that we will be adding a 6th Grade in September 2018.
This is an exciting development for the school and one that we are beginning with great consideration. Leading the design of what will be a vibrant Middle School will be Libby Hixson. Libby, as we know her, is an experienced Middle School director and has worked at almost all levels of primary and secondary schools. Libby successfully led the middle divisions at Dalton and Avenues: The World School. She also founded the Lower School program at Avenues. Her work as an educator began as a teacher and administrator at Rockefeller University Children’s School.
Over the course of the Fall of 2016, we will update families with our progress on development through a monthly newsletter. If you are not a family at Williamsburg Northside, please reach out to our Lower School Director of Admissions, Kendra Anderson (firstname.lastname@example.org) and she will add you to our list. We anticipate beginning our admissions for Middle School in early 2017.
